GUYANA
Guyana officially the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, is a country on the northern mainland of South America. It is the only English speaking country in South America, and is culturally considered part of the Anglophone-Caribbean sphere. In addition it is one of the founding member countries of the Caribbean Community organization (CARICOM). Guyana is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Brazil to the south and southwest, Venezuela to the west, and Suriname to the east. With an area of 215,000 square kilometres (83,000 sq mi), Guyana is the third-smallest sovereign state on mainland South America after Uruguay and Suriname.
The flag of Guyana, known as The Golden Arrowhead, has been the national flag of Guyana since May 1966 when the country became independent from the United Kingdom. It was designed by Whitney Smith, an American vexillologist (though originally without the black and white fimbriations, which were later additions suggested by the College of Arms in the United Kingdom). The proportions of the national flag are 3:5. The colours are symbolic, with red for zeal and dynamism, gold for mineral wealth, green for agriculture and forests, black for endurance, and white for rivers and water. Kaieteur Falls is the world's largest single-drop waterfall by volume.
The first card from Guyana was sent to me by friend Farnaz postmarked at Georgetown on 4 December 2019. It shows St. George's Cathedral, Stabroek Market, City Hall, Cuffy Monument, Umana Yana, Guyana Parliament. All of these are landmarks of Guyana.

The below card was sent to me by my friend Mark on 6 January, 2020 depicting St. George's Cathedral designed by Sir Arthur Bloomfield and built in the 1890s. It is reputed to be one of the world's tallest wooden buildings. Its spire rises 132 ft and is located between Church Street and North Road in Georgetown, Guyana.
